Voluntary Work

Voluntary work is a good way to collect basic professional experience, learn new skills, and make contacts that could be of use when starting your career.

More than a third of the Swiss adult population does some kind of voluntary work and the range of work is wide: Besides charity, social or church organizations, volunteering also includes involvement in sports clubs, arts associations, interest groups, etc. as well as environmental and community activities, and working for the authorities or political bodies.

Voluntary Work

According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 1.3 million people in Switzerland work on behalf of an association or organization. A further 1.5 million people perform informal voluntary work.
